My work explores themes drawing on the known and unknown inheritance of memory and identity. By pursuing my own family's genealogical history, I have made startling discoveries that have helped me understand that memory lives within each person. Deep within ourselves, that traveling dust of the earth, reside the illusive characteristics of memory. Our unique language and history is created in our human form through inherited memory. The land also bears symbols of this memory, this identity. We are inseparable in the eternal process of identity and inheritance. All memory is illusive. It will grow and move with us in our individual destinies.

By using fragile and traditional materials, my work conveys the process of lost and found memories. The dialogue between the work and myself is about the human body and the earth. Created on large sheets of polyester film, Synskin, canvases, maps, and organic materials are my quiet examinations of the relationship between our bodies and the dust that carries us through life. This interchange is my process in a growing understanding about memory and identity. I try to portray the illusive quality of memory, with restraint and brevity, yet each piece carries an undercurrent force with great meaning for me. This ongoing engagement of creating meaning and understanding about memory and identity is a process that comes in waves of shifting perspectives and this pursuit leads me in new directions, causing me to evolve.
