Mentoring
Sometimes it helps to look at your work with a different lens. Speaking your thoughts aloud with another artist can allow you to see the work differently.
Our conversations always circle the work. We look at paintings that feel unresolved, talk through a change in direction, or consider techniques that might offer a way forward. Sometimes we look closely at the formal qualities of a painting and whether they connect with what the artist intends.
I treasure this time with other artists. Although I am taking a short break from regularly scheduled sessions, I welcome artists who feel a connection to my work and the way I approach mentoring to reach out.
Mentoring Reflections
Personal mentoring has been much more beneficial than taking a class or many classes. Kathleen's feedback has been so exact and specific to what I was trying to do. The sessions have helped move my broad idea of wanting to go more abstract to a more focused idea of moving in the direction of figurative abstract. I highly recommend!

I feel like I am having a chat with an old friend when I speak with her - but even better because Kathleen has an abundance of art knowledge and experience to share. She offers suggestions for ways to focus and grow that are suited to my particular needs. I am looking forward to continuing my art exploration with Kathleen.
