The search remains visible
Drawing has always held a kind of immediacy for me—the feeling that thought and movement are occurring at the same time. I have come to understand painting in much the same way: as drawing with wet material.
This understanding gives me permission to work without certainty. Marks accumulate, disappear, and return in altered form. Even when completely covered, they remain embedded in the painting, shaping what follows.
I am less interested in a polished surface than in one that holds the physical history of its making. I want the search to remain present—not as evidence of indecision, but as the life of the painting.
